For Yogaga’s November smoothie, I decided to create something that was fitting for the month. When I think of November I think of the colour red, obviously one of the big reasons is for Remembrance Day. The other reasons I think of red in November is for the amazing vibrant red fruits, such as pomegranates, cranberries, red apples and red grapes.
Red fruits and vegetables are known for their phytonutrients such as lycopene, ellagic acid, quercetin and hesperidin. These nutrients are beneficial in regulating blood pressure levels, reduce tumor growth, lowering bad cholesterol levels and reducing the risk of certain types of cancer.
Red fruits and vegetables also contain vitamin A and C, which are powerful antioxidants that have been shown to keep blood vessels healthy, protect the body’s cells from damage and preventing heart disease.
